Adidas brand acquires Reebok brand approved by EU

In the recent period, there have been two consecutive concerns about the acquisition of international giant companies. Together, Germany’s Adidas Group acquired its old rival, Reebok, and another acquisition was Disney’s acquisition of partner Pixar Animation. Yesterday, both acquisitions have made progress.

Yesterday, Adidas Group's plan to acquire the American Reebok Corporation for 3.1 billion euros was finally approved by the European Commission. Shareholders of Reebok Corp. will vote on the acquisition today, and the market expects the proposal to be passed should not be a problem.

At present, Adidas has annual sales of about 8 billion U.S. dollars and Reebok is about 4 billion U.S. dollars. After the merger, the two companies still have their own independent brands, and their common goal is to occupy Nike’s market share.
