Reporter: When it comes to Wenzhou apparel industry, everyone naturally thinks of men's clothing, but there is no special impression on women's clothing. How do you see this phenomenon?

Zheng Chenai: In fact, women's wear in Wenzhou started in the 1980s, even earlier than men's wear. In the early 1990s, the development of women's wear in Wenzhou was good. At that time, Miaoguosi (when Wenzhou was a famous clothing wholesale market) was selling women's clothing. Later, Wenzhou men's suit began to gradually develop, and later it also formed a trend of men's wear women's development.

Before and after 2003, Wenzhou's apparel companies, whether men's or women's, were in a period of adjustment.

Reporter: What do you think of the current state of development of Wenzhou women's clothing?

Zheng Chenai: Wenzhou women started early and the foundation is still good, but lack of market cultivation and cultural creation. In fact, as far as the national women's wear industry is concerned, at present around the world's fairs and fashion weeks, I think that there is not much consumer market that really cares. It really faces the big consumer market activities and it does not guide such activities as consumption.

There is a strange phenomenon in the industry: designers develop new products, companies then open orders, agents come to choose styles and orders, the number of different, get back to sell. The agent later responded to the company's sales. In fact, in clothing, consumers are primary school students, agents are junior high school students, and designers are high school students. It has now become the work of high school students, junior high school students, and primary school students. This upside down phenomenon is extremely abnormal, resulting in a backlog of corporate goods.

Paris and Milan have been successful because they have a cultural and mature consumer market, so that they have a real trend conference and are called a clothing power. Clothes do a lot more beautifully, but they don't have a well-dressed culture. They are always just a big producer of clothes, and they can't become a clothing power. If the Tang suit is to encourage people to get dressed when they get married, it will surely last forever. However, if the Tang suit is turned into fashion, it is wrong. Tang suit should be a culture, not a fashion.

Reporter: At present, from the perspective of the development of the entire Chinese garment industry, bottlenecks have been encountered in terms of employment and cost. Wenzhou clothing industry related to how?

Zheng Chenai: The difficulties in recruiting workers, raw materials and labor costs, resource shortages, lack of talents, etc., are similar across the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta region. This is a common problem faced by the domestic apparel industry. Wenzhou has these issues. Not afraid to say that some problems can be overcome in the future development. As society develops, labor costs and other costs must rise.

To a certain extent, problems such as rising costs drive the transformation and upgrading of the entire industry, and there is pressure for development. The transformation and promotion of Wenzhou garment industry was put forward at the end of 2006.

Reporter: Then, how is the Wenzhou garment industry doing in terms of transformation and upgrading?

Zheng Chenai: In response to the transformation and upgrading of the industry, the Wenzhou Fashion Chamber of Commerce proposed the “four modernizations” measures: the combination of production and manufacturing, corporate development, industrial transformation, promotion of commercialization, and brand expansion.

In addition, the Wenzhou Garments Association also proposed the concept of "6", namely "3" transitions and "3" promotions. The "3" transformation refers to the transition from OEM to ODM, from production and processing to commerce, and from output to value.

"3" promotion, the first is technology improvement, enterprises in addition to equipment, technological transformation, but also to strengthen product development. The second is management improvement, which involves efficiency management and quality management issues. The third is the increase in value, which relates to the question of whether companies can continue to invest and whether they can cope with rising costs. Chinese garment companies have experienced the experience and elimination of the market, and all companies that have emerged will have considerable competitive advantages.

Reporter: In the recent period, the media reported that the SMEs in Wenzhou have suffered a lot of difficulties and closed down. The Wenzhou apparel industry is dominated by SMEs. What is their situation in this regard?

Zheng Chenai: The collapse of a business is a very natural natural market elimination. The market follows the law of survival of the fittest and survival of the fittest.

At present, the financing channels for Wenzhou small and medium-sized garment enterprises are being further broadened, and several commercial banks have successively reached strategic cooperation relationships with the Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce to provide credit guarantees, joint guarantees and a series of special services for SMEs. At present, some companies have benefited and have received urgently needed working capital.

Reporter: Just now you talked about some difficulties encountered by the clothing industry in Wenzhou. So, what are the advantages of this industry?

Zheng Chenai: Wenzhou garment industry has its advantages. First of all, in terms of manufacturing, Wenzhou’s manufacturing capabilities are not bad. Many international big names have all come to OEM in Wenzhou, and Wenzhou’s garments have considerable fine manufacturing capabilities. Some people look down on OEM, in fact, there are several types of brands, such as manufacturing products, designer brands, etc., as long as a good part of the industry chain, can be called a brand.

Second, the advantage of agglomeration of Wenzhou apparel industry is obvious. For example, at present, Wenzhou China has 16 well-known trademarks, 9 Chinese famous brands, 17 national inspection-free products, 11 Chinese “double hundred” companies in the apparel industry, and 3 listed apparel companies.

Reporter: What do you think about expanding the influence of Wenzhou's women's wear industry?

Zheng Chenai: I do not deny that, compared with Hangzhou women's wear and Shenzhen women's wear, Wenzhou women's wear is weak, and there are not many "vocalizations" in the country. In addition to the Wenzhou Women’s Industry, the entire clothing industry in Wenzhou does not currently have a professional clothing market. There is not a decent clothing street (less than 300 meters from Wuma Street) and there is not a clothing festival. If none of these are available, it is very difficult for Wenzhou ladies to have their own statement.

Women's wear in Wenzhou, if they want to occupy a place in the national women's wear industry, needs a lot of action and a certain amount of time. At the same time, they must also take advantage of the overall advantages of Wenzhou's clothing industry.
