Porcelain Collection: Lang Kiln Green and Lang Kiln Red

The majority of hobby porcelain collectors know Lang Yaohong, and little is known about Lang Kiln Green Glaze. Many years ago, the author collected a pair of Langyao green glazed sunflower mouth plates, shallow abdomen, flat bottom, ring feet, and whole body Shilang kiln green glaze. Compared with similar devices of Langyao Green, Langyao Green is basically the same in terms of tire, type, and foot, except that the glazed surfaces inside and outside are all blue-green. The glaze is thick and thick, and the glass texture is strong. The light shines through the enamel with a deeper color, and it has a fine sloping grain pattern and a colorful sheen.

The firing of green glazed porcelain was more common in the Song Dynasty, and green glaze porcelain was beautifully colored during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Green glazed porcelain has a unique firing process. Early peacock green glazed porcelain was used to apply malachite green glaze at a low temperature on the green tires. This was due to the partial bluish coloration of some utensils and the presence of “peacock blue” or “blue light”. Said. In the Yuan Dynasty, the craftsmen first burned the porcelain tires in a high temperature to a lighter or white glazed porcelain, and then applied a peacock green glaze to the kiln for secondary low-temperature firing. Due to the difference in the coefficient of expansion between the glaze and the green body, the surface of the porcelain part has a relatively small degree of fine opening. With weathering and erosion by the soil, the glazed surface will show off into pieces. The temperature of the kiln green enamel porcelain kiln fired in the Kangxi official kiln is increased, the fetal enamel is tight, and the tread often has a dense and small opening phenomenon. This is the characteristic of the “three generations of Qing Dynasty” peacock green glaze porcelain.

The characteristics of Langyao Green are: the glaze layer is evenly thin, the glaze is stable, green and bright, and the glazed surface has a strong glass-like luster, which seems to have a kind of jade-like visual. Under the glaze close to the carcass is covered with fine lines, commonly known as "fly wings." A closer look with a 10x magnifier reveals dense dots on the glazed surface, formed by small bubbles in the glaze. In the bottom of the device, there is a circle of foot glazing near the foot, commonly known as "Lang does not flow", but the glaze is very natural and neat. It seems that there is a sense of glaze flowing to the bottom of the foot. The deep glaze at the thick glaze deepens. green. The ring foot is muddy back, the inner wall is the inner bow, the bottom foot is cast in white, and the blue and green glaze is applied. Inside the device, a white glaze is applied, the glaze layer is thick, and there is no open film. The glaze color is obviously different from the white flashing glaze in the bottom foot. There is a ring of obvious white enamel at the rim, commonly known as the "lamp edge grass."
