Silk itself can be further divided into pure silk and mixed silk. Prices vary depending on the quality, but even the lower-end options usually start at over 500 yuan. Wool quilts also have different types, such as Australian wool and mountain wool. According to testing, Australian wool feels thicker and firmer, while mountain wool is softer and more comfortable. However, mountain wool tends to be about 30% more expensive. As for fiber quilts, soybean fiber and multi-hole fibers are more affordable, with high-quality brands ranging between 500 to 800 yuan. Some models may even offer discounts of up to 100 yuan.

Silk and wool quilts should not be beaten or exposed directly to sunlight.

Many people still have common misconceptions about how to properly care for their quilts. It's a widespread belief that sun-drying, beating, and using insecticides are necessary steps to keep quilts clean and fresh. However, this practice can actually damage the quilt.

Silk and wool are both porous materials that naturally absorb moisture and release it, keeping the quilt dry even in humid conditions. Therefore, they don’t need to be dried in the sun. Additionally, beating them can break the fibers, reducing their insulating properties. Silk also has natural anti-mold and anti-mite qualities, so there’s no need for chemical treatments. To maintain silk and wool quilts, simply store them in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated area for a few hours. Avoid placing heavy objects on them. For fiber quilts, you can wash them in a washing machine or by hand in cold water, but avoid soaking them for too long. After washing, there's no need to fully dry them, as excessive drying can shorten their lifespan.
