Textile and Apparel Export Increases 15.5% in the Last October

According to recent customs data, Zhongshan City exported $2.09 billion worth of textiles and garments between January and October this year, reflecting a 15.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This steady growth highlights the resilience and adaptability of the city's textile industry amid global economic fluctuations. Notably, the only month that saw a slight decline in exports was March, while other months showed consistent progress. In June, the city recorded a monthly export value of $257 million, marking a new high for the year. However, the following months experienced a downward trend, with October’s exports reaching $198 million—an increase of 21.6% year-on-year, but still showing a 12.6% decrease from the previous month. One key factor driving the growth is the rise in general trade, which accounted for nearly half of the total export growth. From January to October, general trade exports reached $1.03 billion, up 26.7% year-on-year, making up 49.3% of the total textile and apparel exports. Meanwhile, processing trade also contributed significantly, with $1.06 billion in exports, an increase of 6.4%, representing 50.7% of the total. This balanced performance between general and processing trade demonstrates the diversification of Zhongshan’s export strategies, helping to stabilize and sustain growth in the face of external challenges. The city continues to position itself as a major player in China’s textile and garment industry, leveraging both domestic and international market opportunities.
