Yiwu swept four into seamless underwear machinery domestic share

Yiwu's knitting industry is undergoing significant transformation, driven by technological upgrades and the increasing demand for high-quality products. As a result, more companies are focusing on replacing old machinery with advanced equipment to expand their reach in both domestic and international markets. These factors have directly boosted the sales of new socks, knitting machines, and related equipment in Yiwu. At the Tenth China (Yiwu) International Socks, Knitting and Dyeing Machinery Exhibition, several exhibitors shared that according to preliminary data, around 40% of seamless undergarment equipment currently sold in the domestic market comes from Yiwu enterprises. Hong Kong Zhongda Industrial Co., Ltd., a well-known textile machinery brand in Europe, showcased seven different brands of equipment at the exhibition. According to Rong Yaoji, the company’s senior business manager, they have 20 offices across the country, including one in Yiwu, which serves as the largest maintenance center in mainland China. In addition to updated warp knitting machines and seamless underwear machinery, Hong Kong Zhongda also displayed seamless sweater equipment. Rong Yaoji noted that Yiwu enterprises sell approximately 300-400 units of seamless underwear machinery each month, making up about 40% of the company’s total sales. However, as the seamless knitting industry continues to evolve, the demand for seamless sweater equipment is expected to surge, creating a new wave of market trends. Notably, the Italian Santoni brand’s agent at the exhibition received an impressive 3,000 orders during the event. AoLuoLa Machinery Co., Ltd., the only hosiery equipment manufacturer based in Yiwu, brought around 10 sets of upgraded and newly developed equipment to the fair. Liu Weiming, the company’s general manager, explained that Yiwu’s knitting enterprises are upgrading rapidly, and the influx of imported equipment has created strong pressure on domestic manufacturers. He warned that if local manufacturers fail to keep up, they may lose their foothold in the high-end market. Despite this challenge, Liu Weiming expressed confidence in the company’s double-needle turret machine, a product previously only produced by Italian and Japanese firms. The machine has gained strong market appeal, attracting buyers not only from local businesses but also from India, Lithuania, and Ukraine. Weng Rongjin, chairman of Zhejiang Langsha Holding Co., Ltd., was particularly impressed by the new equipment on display. He commented that Yiwu’s hosiery industry has reached a high level, and the exhibition featured more energy-efficient and automated machinery. He believed that such exhibitions significantly benefit the sock industry by enabling Yiwu enterprises to access the most advanced and high-quality equipment available globally, greatly facilitating their operations. According to statistics, Yiwu currently operates 40,000 sets of sock machines, with two-thirds of them imported from Italy, South Korea, and other countries, while the remaining third comes from domestic manufacturers. The competitiveness of Yiwu’s socks in both domestic and international markets can largely be attributed to the advanced equipment used by local enterprises.
